Drakensberg, day two.

On Boxing day Han and I decided to do a hike, the Drakensberg is known for it’s excellent hiking and no visit would be the same without one.  We poured over all the options and decided to do the ‘Pink’ hike.  So, early in the morning we headed off for our adventure, starting with an enormous climb up the side of the mountain.  We were treated by some gorgeous views on the way.

The hike took us about six hours all up with an excellent swim in a natural waterfall for lunch, it was absolutely freezing cold but I had promised myself I would do it after getting so hot climbing the mountain.  I would add pictures of that, but really, no one needs to see us in swimmers!  We continued after lunch walking back down the mountain while the thunder clouds rolled in, the thing about the Drakensberg is that the weather can change at any moment and it also gets alot of lightening strikes, so we were in a hurry to head back to our tent before things got worse.

This rock was enourmous, you can just see me standing next to it.

The next morning we packed up camp and headed to Jo’burg so to pick up my mum from the airport, our very first visitor!
